Tottenham plot Massimiliano Allegri swap as Juventus chase Mauricio Pochettino – EXCLUSIVE
Pochettino, who has been openly hinting about quitting White Hart Lane if Spurs win the Champions League, is the favourite to take over from Allegri at Juve.
While the Italian is at the top of Tottenham’s wanted list to take over from Pochettino in North London in a unique managerial job swap.
It was announced on Friday that Allegri would be leaving the Italian giants this summer despite an impressive haul of five consecutive Serie A titles.
And he is open about moving to the Premier League where he was linked with taking over at Arsenal and then Manchester United earlier this season.
He decided not to succeed Arsene Wenger because of a lack of transfer funds and would seek the same clarification from Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
Massimiliano Allegri is also a target for Chelsea, who are expected to sack Maurizio Sarri after one season in charge even if he wins the Europa League next week.
But with a two transfer window ban hanging over Stamford Bridge, Allegri is ready to snub Roman Abramovich with Tottenham his preferred choice.
On Saturday, Juventus chief Andrea Agnelli confirmed Allianz Stadium chiefs were behind Allegri leaving Turin this summer.
“We evaluated the future of Juventus and obviously the club decided to take a direction next year without me, but that doesn’t change anything,” Allegri said.
“We have grown together and it is the right moment to leave the club in the best possible way.”
Allegri is believed to have been shown the door for failing to deliver Juventus’ first Champions League title since 1996.
Mauricio Pochettino could scoop that prize on June 1, with Tottenham set to face Liverpool in this season’s final in Madrid.
